Imagine thousands of leaders around the world like Eve and Monique feeling energized after identifying and learning to lead from their strengths and skills rather than simply their abilities—the things they can do.
When we embrace our God-given strengths and skills and boldly live and lead in those ways, we grow in confidence and joy. This is why PLI trainers spend time with ministry leaders. We help them discover their strengths and passions and how the Holy Spirit has uniquely called them to engage in the mission of God.
We are invited to live out the mission of God — everyone, everywhere, everyday.
The Slingshot and the Rock
1 Samuel 17 demonstrates the importance of living out our gifts for God’s glory and trusting God’s power for the victory. As David set off to fight Goliath, he placed Saul’s armor aside and picked up his own slingshot and five stones. David trusted God would work through his natural strengths and skills. And God did!
Too often, we are tempted to minimize the slingshot and rock—the natural strengths and skills—that God has given us. Instead we pick up someone else’s armor, believing their gifts are more effective than our own. We try to fit into someone else’s mold or expectation of what living out the mission of God looks like.
When we attempt to live and lead in ways that don’t align with our God-gifted strengths and skills we feel exhausted. Carrying someone else’s armor is hard work.
There is good news! Ephesians 2:8-10 reminds us that although there is nothing we can do to earn God’s grace, each of us has been designed for a purpose. We are God’s handiwork—His masterpiece. We bring glory to God when we live into the fullness of who we are created to be.
At PLI, we help participants distinguish between natural strengths, skills and abilities.*

Being able to distinguish between our natural strengths and skills and our abilities allows us to make wise choices about how we live and lead. Choosing to live and lead out of our strengths and skills brings joy and confidence.
We are invited to live out the mission of God — everyone, everywhere, everyday. How has God uniquely gifted and created you to engage in His mission?

*PLI also helps leaders identify their spiritual gifts, given by the Spirit, for us to leverage for the mission of God. Our spiritual gifts are very important, but the topic requires a lengthier discussion.
