Al and Mary Doering have partnered with PLI to provide leadership training to ministry leaders across the globe for over 20 years.
As trainers, they KNOW that providing access to training that aligns the life and leadership of ministry leaders with the mission of God is critical—and equipping leaders to train others to carry God’s mission transforms entire regions.
This conviction is leading the Doerings to host one of PLI’s Leadership Collectives this fall, October 28-30 in Kingwood, TX.
Al and Mary see distinct benefits for pastors, spouses and ministry leaders participating in PLI’s Leadership Collective model: local communities, applicable principles, an adaptable framework, and multiplication. Read on to hear more about these benefits from Al and Mary.
![Leadership Collective Distinctives
From the perspective of experienced ministry leaders...
Local Community
Because the training is local, ministry leaders get connected to other mission-minded leaders in their area creating, “an accessible support system for those who want to multiply disciples.” This increases peer-accountability and a sense of community that pastors, spouses and ministry leaders often lack.
Applicable Principles
“The material is packaged in a way that’s understandable,” and, “has application right away,” Al shared. “It focuses on helping leaders see it’s the mission [of God] that drives it.” Through the training, the Holy Spirit develops character and participants gain the skills to lead the mission of God with humble courage.
Adaptable Framework
PLI provides a biblically grounded, relationally based, structured framework ministry leaders can adapt to their local context. “It’s a lens...The basis, the processes, are the same--but then they have to look at their area, their church, and their people to say, what is the best way for me to lead and multiply disciples?” Mary explained.
Multiplying Leaders
As Al and Mary have experienced through their own ministry and leadership, multiplication is key to equipping more people with the good news of Jesus. And this principle is found at the core of the Leadership Collective model. Multiplying leaders for the sake of the mission of God takes time, but as Al explained, “To say, ‘We want [leaders] to influence other people with this, to train others’...That has value.” As mission-minded leaders multiply, more and more people are connected to Jesus.](https://plileadership.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/About-Leadership-Collectives-Infographic-scaled.png)
With your partnership, we believe these distinctives of Leadership Collectives will help us scale for the growth God is leading us toward here in the US & Canada.
