A Donor’s Journey: John and Jamie Kuddes – Faithful Friends

Published: March 11, 2025

I recently had the privilege of speaking with longtime donor John Kuddes. He and his wife, Jamie, have faithfully supported PLI since its inception. “We gave generously in the early years because it was a start-up and the need was great,” John shared.

As members of the Donor Advisory Board, the Kuddes were encouraged to see how, when PLI faced a financial challenge mid-year, donors stepped up in remarkable ways. Through historic year-end giving, the Donor Advisory Board helped ensure that PLI not only finished the year strong but is now poised to expand programs in the United States and nine additional countries in 2025.

Like many of our supporters, John and Jamie give to multiple worthy organizations, investing their philanthropic dollars where they see impact. As John spoke about the causes they support, his passion for helping others was unmistakable. At PLI, we share that passion, striving to show our donors the Kingdom impact their generosity makes.

One tangible way we do this is by highlighting the number of leaders we train. In 2024, that number exceeded 17,500—a remarkable increase from just over 3,000 in 2023 and around 2,000 in 2022. And we anticipate surpassing 2024’s numbers again in 2025!

Like many of our donors, John and Jamie were amazed at PLI’s rapid growth, particularly in Africa. But they also asked an important question: How can we increase our impact here in the United States?

I shared that we are actively exploring how to multiply our impact domestically. This year, we’re launching a pilot program to determine whether the international model that has fueled such extraordinary growth abroad can produce similar results in the USA and Canada.

At the same time, we continue to strengthen our core programs:

  • Leadership Essentials
  • Senior Leader
  • D2MC (Discipleship to Missional Community)

Last year, we launched our first Vision Bridge cohort in Tacoma, WA, with five churches embarking on a journey toward greater mission and vision clarity. This September, we will start another cohort in Chicago.

I also shared with John that we are in the midst of a strategic planning process, developing a rolling three-year plan that will be updated annually. Under the leadership of Rev. Ben Haupt, Ph.D., this process will help ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of our mission. John was encouraged to hear about these efforts.

We are incredibly grateful for the Kuddes’ and all of our donors who make this work possible. Together, we are equipping pastors, key leaders, and spouses to unite people for God’s mission—connecting the world to Jesus.
